NEW EVENTS

June 2022

Volume Ten, Bare Bones Beaneath the Floorboards was released in June 2022. The book contains the writing phrases shared by Ms. Jackie Farside’s 5th grade class! So thrilled to have them become a part of the book. (Read below and see photos of her students / classroom.) Thank you, Jackie. (Jackie was a former FDU Graduate student of mine a few years ago. “Over the moon” to see her in action within her own classroom where she encourages young readers and writers!)

…………………………………………

In March 2022 “Read Across America Month,” I had the distinct pleasure of speaking to Ms. Jackie Farside’s 5th grade class at Gloria Sabater Elementary School in Vineland, NJ.  I informed them about my mystery series and had them become writing partners for my 7th Chapter of BARE BONES BENEATH THE FLOORBOARDS. Their eager enthusiasm provided great wording and phrases for the book.

Special speaking engagement on October 4, 2018, at the Quaker Meeting House in Medford, NJ, for the Medford Historical Society. A huge thank you to all the interested attendees who loved hearing about my Middle Grade mystery series that augments the landmarks, roadways and locations in and around Burlington County. (October 2018)

Caught up with broadcaster / comedian Dennis Malloy (of The Dennis and Judi Show on NJ101.5FM) to inform him of his scene in volume seven in the Booger and Beans Mystery series, A GHOST ON THE FRONT PORCH (releasing late May). He accepted my celebratory gift of Italian Wedding Soup (aka escarole and meatball soup) to enjoy! Great guy and wonderful advocate for the businesses in our local community. (April 7, 2018)

What a wonderful welcome from Mrs. Wentworth’s 5th Grade Class at Sharon Hill School in Sharon Hill, PA! Not only does this fifth grade love reading mysteries, the students also like trying their hands at writing them, too. (March 16, 2018) I read from my latest volume six from the MG Booger and Beans Mystery series, Voices Beyond the Hidden Staircase, and the class was intrigued by the references to the Underground Railroad in South Jersey. They love seeing history mixed into suspense narrative.

Philadelphia chapter of SAG-AFTRA volunteer actors ready to read Seuss and other books (like from my own MG Booger and Beans mystery series!) in the Sharon Hill School District, PA. Pictured here are only ten of us from the twenty-eight who attended. (March 2, 2018)

Such a marvelous day at Sharon Hill School in Sharon Hill, PA, on 3/2/17. The entire school was “all in” with their Dr. Seuss honors. Shared excerpts from The Case of the Mascot’s Missing Fire then answered questions about the writing process, my other books and the world of acting. LOVE “Read Across America” month!

Schiappa Library

Met wonderful people from Steubenville, Ohio, at both the Jefferson County Library downtown and Schiappa Branch Library at Fort Steuben Mall on June 21, 2016.

What a marvelous welcoming by the staff and their 4th and 5th graders at Evans Elementary School in Marlton, NJ! They had terrific questions about writing, about Beans and the other characters in my mystery series and so much more! Students dressed-up to celebrate “Fancy Nancy Day” in honor of Jane O’Connor’s famous character. Even Principal DiBlasi got into the act with his stylish tuxedo! Every day of the week’s Book Fair was connected to reading! Great job, Evans School!! (April 2016)

001What better way to spend an “early” spring day in March than discussing books with FIFTH GRADERS at Chairville Elementary School in Medford, New Jersey!  “READ ACROSS AMERICA MONTH” 2016.

Such GREAT questions from wonderfully attentive listeners! Loved hearing about how much they enjoy reading and writing!!

Back in my original hometown at the Florence Township Library in July 2015. So honored to see many of my former high school friends, their children and parents. Also, I was pleasantly surprised with the handful of former students who came with their children to support my good fortune. (Yes, I felt old!)

RIVERFRONT SCHOOL (2015)

What a great turn out of 5th through 8th graders! Two wonderful assemblies, and the best part was the poignant and most thoughtful discussions with the students. I will always remember Jake who told me that my series would benefit well with a superhero character named “Banana Man.” I told him that one day (and I will) he will read one of the books and see that Banana Man will make an appearance in his honor!!

Because of “READ ACROSS AMERICA” month, students were encouraged to dress up as their favorite book characters. Mrs. Frisby from The Secret of Nimh was “in the house!”

Riverfront School.3.3.15 001

Spoke to well over 600 students in two separate assemblies! Surprises for the morning included meeting up with two former students of mine from Florence Twp. HS; one now teaches in the building (formerly the HS, now Riverfront) and one popped in, a NJ State Trooper. Made my day!!
